Who is Positive Transitioning?
Positive Transitioning Inc. is a non–profit organization that provides individuals reentering the community after incarceration. Positive Transitioning Inc. is a 24-hour Resource/Listening Line that services all 50 states. The Resource/Listening line is staffed by life coaches, and provides individuals with the immediate support and resources they may be needed during reentry. We will also have Crisis Clinicians available for individuals that may be calling in crisis due to the stressors related to reentry.
Positive Transitioning Inc. also provides individuals life coaches that will assist them in every step of the reentry process. There is a different program that is associate with each step of the reentry process. These programs consist of housing, education, employment, vocational training, obtaining government benefits, veteran assistance, medical management, sponsorship, financial stability, family reintegration, and legal assisting.
Currently Positive Transitioning Inc. is entirely web–based as we are hoping that this makes it easily accessible for anyone to access from anywhere. Although we are hoping to keep our organization web-based, we have team members working in 2 locations Columbus, Ohio and Atlanta, GA, which will eventually become our physical locations. As we are a non–profit and depend on donations, grants, fundraising, and volunteers until Positive Transitioning Inc. becomes more established and has been able to raise donations, our team will be working on a volunteer basis. Also, with this in mind any days, or hours that you are available to work with us is so much appreciated. This would not be possible unless we all work together to build a Positive Transition.
A Note from Positive Transitioning:
With the recent events regarding the tragic death of George Floyd and the Black Lives Matter Movement, we stand in solidarity with the Black community and others in condemning past racial injustices, systemic racism, and oppression. We also mourn with George Floyd’s family and loved ones and we will continue to work to learn, listen, and advocate for the Black community as there is no place in this world for these sorts of injustices.
At Positive Transitioning, we specifically stand with the Black community that we serve. We will continue with our mission to help provide free short and long term assistance for those currently incarcerated and ex-offending while also helping create a more just legal system. We will help advocate for our clients and work extensively to create more equitable and inclusive grounds all while continually analyzing our own behaviors and practices. We are committed to advocating for change and we will continue to uplift the voices of the Black community.
